Verily all Praise be to ALLAAH, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Him from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever ALLAAH guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever ALLAAH leaves astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is NO god save ALLAAH. and I bear witness that Muhammad is His SLAVE and MESSENGER, may the peace and blessings of Allah (glory be to him) be upon him, his family and all his companions.

O you who believe! Fear ALLAAH as He should be feared, and die not except in a state of Islam with complete submission to ALLAAH.

O you who believe! Keep your duty to Allah and fear Him, and speak (always) the TRUTH. He will direct you to do righteous good deeds and will forgive you your sins. And whosoever obeys ALLAAH and His Messenger, he has indeed achieved a great achievement

O ye who believe! Whoso of you becometh a renegade from his religion, (know that in his stead) ALLAAH will bring a people whom He loveth and who love Him, humble toward believers, stern toward disbelievers, striving in the way of ALLAAH, and fearing not the blame of any blamer. Such is the grace of ALLAAH which He giveth unto whom He will. ALLAAH is All-Embracing, All-Knowing.

I greet you o Muslims with the greeting of peace, the greeting of the prophets and messengers of ALLAAH, the greeting of the people of Jannah, the greeting of Islam. as salaamu ‘alaykum wa Rahmatulahi wa Barakatuh.

Celebrating the holidays of the kuffaar is an innovation. These celebrations are not from within Islam, nor are they conduct of the salaf (i.e. sahabah). Therefore anything not established in Islam should not be followed, as this will lead to punishments, especially in area of ebaddah.

Celebrating the holidays of the kuffaar is an imitation of the kuffaar. The prophet (sallah Allahu alayhi Wasalam) in a plenty of ahadith prohibited imitating the kuffaar, he said “Whomever imitates the kuffaar is one of them”.

Being different from the kuffaar is an important principle in Islam. Following the path of those cursed by Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’aala) is not part of Islam.

There is a pattern of showing this important principle that one can clearly see through the Koran and sunnah. From the Kiblah being changed towards Kabah from Beit el Makdus to growing our beards and trimming our moustaches as opposed to the practices of Jews and Christians; also in eating and sleeping on the same bed as our wives (not having intercourse) during their menses as opposed to the Jews who used to isolate their wives from even eating with them. There are dozens more opposition to be mentioned from the Qur’an and Sunnah.

Just as it was clear to the Jews that Muhammad’s (sallah Allahu alayhi Wasalam) goal was to change everything in common with the non-Muslims, we must realize this important principle of Islam and apply it.

The prophet Muhammad (sallah Allahu alayhi Wasalam) ran a pattern of trying to be different from the Kuffaar and we see those ignorant heads with spoiled followers who attempt to run a contradicting pattern of imitating and enjoining them!

Kuraib, the servant of Ibn Abbas (Radia Allahu Anh), narrated that, “Ibn Abbas sent me and other companions of the prophet (Sallah Allahu Alayhi Wasalam) to Um Salamah (Radia Allahu Anha) to ask her: ‘what days did the prophet (Sallah Allahu Alayhi Wasalam) fast most?’ She said, ‘he fasted Saturday and Sunday, and he used to say, “They are holidays of the kuffaar and I love to be different from them in them.”

Not only is not enjoining their holidays a major sin, but being different than them is a principle commanded by Islam.

Abdullah Ibn Umar (Radia Allahu Anhuma) said, “Whoever builds in the lands of the non-Arabs (i.e. kuffaar), and makes their Naiyrooz and festivals and imitates them, until he dies like that, will be stuck in hell fire with them.”

Umar Ibn Alkhatab (radia Allah anh) said, “Keep away from the enemies of Allah on their holidays.”

It is clear to anyone who has a heart and understanding that it is prohibited to celebrate the holidays of the kuffaar. Whether this be by participating with them in any way, greeting them, mingling with them on their holidays, entering the places where their parties are taking place, or any symbolic move, action or gesture that would appear symbolic or sympathetic for their holiday.

We should not purchase gifts for parents on fathers or mothers day, rather every day of a Muslims life is fathers and mothers days.

We should not celebrate birthdays because those better than us did not do so, and its origin was by the kuffaar.

We should not decorate for their holidays as they do on Christmas, nor should we wear like them as they do on Halloween, nor should we eat as they do on Thanksgiving.

We should not eat Turkey and say our intention was otherwise; there are 364 days in the year for you to enjoy your Turkey, to choose that day specifically is symbolically participating in their holidays.

We should not go out and jump up and down with the ignorants counting down the time to 12 on the so-called “New Year’s Eve” – a pagan festival. How can a person with common sense celebrate another year closer to their death, to the Day of Judgement ?

The same applies to those who decorate their homes with Christmas trees or seasonal lights during Christmas season, then claim their intention was otherwise.

If we do not wake up and take a stand, we will wake up one day before a hopeless generation that knows Islaam only by its name. This is because celebrating and enjoining in the holidays of the kuffaar is a cancerous tumor in the core of the Islaamic belief that will spread and will not stop until it devastates us and causes us to loose our identity and dignity. Worst of all, it will subject us to the curse and wrath of Allah.

It is not appropriate to find excuses and rationales in order to find a way out merely to satisfy surrounding pressure or to please the west and go along with the flow. It is our only duty in this life to adhere, listen and totally and fully accept the commands that come down to us from Allah and His messenger (Sallah Allahu Alayhi Wasalam). Allah (Subhanahu wa ta’aala) makes this point clear in the Quran. He said, “It is not fitting for a believer man or women when a matter has been decided by Allah and his messenger to have any option about their decision. If anyone disobeys Allah and his messenger, he indeed is on a clearly wrong path.”

May we be of those who accept Allah and his messenger (sallah Allahu alayhi Wasalam)’s commands totally, happily and willingly and not be like the hypocrites whom Allah humiliated in the Koran, “When it is said to them come to what Allah hath revealed and to the messenger thou seest the hypocrites avert their faces from thee in disgust.”

Whoever does anything of this sort is a sinner, whether he does it out of politeness or to be friendly, or because he is too shy to refuse, or for whatever other reason, because this is hypocrisy in Islaam, and because it makes the kuffaar feel proud of their religion.

Allaah is the One Whom we ask to make the Muslims feel proud of their religion, to help them adhere steadfastly to it, and to make them victorious over their enemies, for He is the Strong and Omnipotent.

We have been blessed with our Eid, accept this blessing and stop imitating the kuffar.

* * * * * * * * * * *

as salaamu ‘alaykum,

Every holiday or celebration that differs from Shariah celebrations is a newly invented innovation that was not known during the time of the Pious Predecessors. Furthermore, it may have begun as an imitation of the Non-Muslims. Therefore, in addition to it being an innovation, it may be an act of resembling the enemies of Allah.

The Shariah holidays are well known among the Muslims. These are the Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha and the weekly Eid [Fridays]. There is no holiday or festival in Islaam other than those three. Every holiday that is invented besides them is to be rejected as an innovation and falsehood in the Shariah . This is because the Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alaihi-wasallam) said,

” Every deed introduced into our affair that does not belong to it is rejected .”
[Agreed Upon]

That is, it is rejected from that person and it will not be accepted by Allah. Another wording of the hadeeth states,

”Whoever does a deed that is not what our affair is upon, will have it rejected .”

[Shaykh Muhammad bin Saalih al-`Uthaymeen]

* * * * * * * * * * *

So my dear brothers and sisters, please keep to your houses and have a great night in with your families and do NOT go out to celebrate this celebration of disbelief.

Do not turn your TV on to watch money being launched into the air in the form of fireworks only to be blown away into dust. Watching this celebration counts as participating in it.

Do not celebrate this innovated pagan festival and label yourself as an innovator as they are no doubt in the Fire.

Allaah (swt) knows best.

* * * * * * * * * * *

This sermon was delivered on the Ninth day of Dhul Hijjah 10 A.H in the “Uranah valley of Mount Arafat.”

After praising, and thanking Allaah (swt) he (saws) said:

“O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether, after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and TAKE THESE WORDS TO THOSE WHO COULD NOT BE PRESENT HERE TODAY.

O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Scared, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owner. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your LORD, and that HE will indeed reckon your deeds. ALLAH has forbidden you to take usury (Interest), therefore all Interest obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer inequity. Allah has Judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to Abbas ibn ‘Abd’al Muttalib shall henceforth be waived…

Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion; he has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

O People, it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah’s trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.

O People, listen to me in earnest, worship ALLAH, say your five daily prayers (salah), fast during the month of ramadhan, and give your wealth in Zakat. Perform HAJJ if you can afford to.

All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslim constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves.

Remember one day you will appear before ALLAH and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.

O People, NO PROPHET OR APOSTLE WILL COME AFTER ME AND NO NEW FAITH WILL BE BORN. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, The QURAN and my example – the SUNNAH and if you follow these you will never go astray.

All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly.

Be my witness, O ALLAH, that I have conveyed your message to your people”

  • Message 002 – “The Muslim Ummah is ONE body (Part 01)”

Umar bin Al Khattab (RadhiAllahu Anhu) asked Ubay Ibn Ka’ab (R.A) , “What is the meaning of Taqwah?” Ubay Ibn Ka’ab said, O, Ameerul Mumineen, did you ever walk in a field that has a lot of thorny plants. Umar (R.A) said, “Yes”. Ubay ibn Ka’ab said, “so what did you do?” Umar replied, “I lifted up my clothes and I was very careful”. Thereafter, Ubay(R.A) replied, “That is Taqwah”.

We are walking in a field filled with thorny plants and shaytan and his followers are trying to seduce the Mumineen (believers) and inviting us to evil. Having Taqwah in duniyah is lifting up our clothes and being careful so we do not touch this evil. We ask Allah to make us of al Muttaqeen.

Dear brothers and sisters, there is a famous story or parable that I would like to narrate. There are surely important lessons to be derived from this story. The story is about three cows.

There were four cows. One of them was white and the other three were black. They used to live in a dangerous area surrounded by wolves and they protected each other by sticking together, and keeping an attentive eye. This is how they managed to survive in this area surrounded by wild beasts.

One day, the three black cows decided to hold a meeting and they said, ” This White cow is giving us away..we are black and noone can see us but the enemy is able to spot the white cow and he is putting us all in’s better for us to let him go.” From that day, the three black cows isolated and boycotted the white cow.

The enemy- the wolf – was very intelligent. He was able to detect this disunity and he took this opportunity to slaughter the white cow while it was left alone with no support or protection. While the wolf devoured the flesh of the white cow, the other cows remained silent and watched the enemy violently finish their brother.

The following night, the wolf made an attack on one of the three black cows as now they were one cow short and one day after another it became even easier and effortless to attack the others. He managed to kill all of the other cows until one remained. This cow ran frantically but no help would come to him. The wolf, on the other hand, was confident for he knew that this cow would recieve no help. He pounced on the cow and grabbed his neck and the cow uttered his last words and made a very important statement. The cow said, ” I was eaten the day the white cow was eaten.” He told himself, “I signed my execution form when I allowed the white cow to be salughtered…it is not now that I die.”

My dear brothers and sisters, I am sure by now you have been able to derive important lessons from this story. I will explain some in case you have missed it.

1. This story is a good representation of the situation of the Ummah today. We are watching one Muslim nation fall after another and we are sitting back and watching. Doing Nothing. We have one nation after another entering into problems. Kashmir, Afghanistan, Chehnya, Philipiness, Iraq, Palestine etc. The ummah is doing nothing while Iraq/Falisteen (Palestine) and such are being devoured. And know that it will not end here but will spill into other countries. Only ALLAH (Swt) Knows who is next. These nations were not taken today but a long time ago when we allowed our muslim nation to fall down. We have thus, allowed the same thing to happen to each and everyone of us.

2. This shows us consequences of having disunity. When these cows did not stick together, they allowed the enemy to snatch one of them away and in the end, they were all defeated.

Rasulullah Sallalahu alyehi wasallam has given us the analogy of the Ummah. He said, “Muslims in their caring, mercy, and support for each others, is like one body, when a part of it suffers from pain, the rest of it would suffer by a fever and sleeplessness.” If your foot or finger or any part of the body feels pain, your body will develop a fever because it has to fight the bacteria or infection. The whole body gets involved in this struggle. Likewise, this is the description that the Best of creation Muhammad Sallalahu alyehi wasallam gave about the Ummah. So, if the Muslim in the east, west or north, whether in center of the body or the tips, you should feel the same pain as if it is happening to yourself and your family. If you are only concerned about yourself and your immediate family, then there is something wrong. Your not really part of the body. It does not matter if your split into different political states/groups/madhahib (four school of thoughts), so long as the person is a Muslim and they have a sound belief in ALLAH (SWT) and is not deviant. Sometimes, we like to think that only my group and I are Muslims. Why? Because, he is not following my Jam’ah or my way. As long as you cannot prove that he is a Kaafir or have evidence that he is a Murtad (Apostate), He is a Muslim. Wether he belongs to the same Madhab, same country or group should not make a difference.

Now, we all talk about the importance of attaining Unity. We cannot talk about unity in terms of having a certain group and abandoning other Jamats and getting rid of all the different madhabs. We cannot become copies of each other. It’s an impossible thing to have.

What we mean by Unity is that eventhough your approach to islam might be different or the madhab you follow might be different , you still help a Muslim brother when he needs YOU. That is Unity.

One can have different apporaches to work. You can be doing different things because the Ummah needs everything today. We have shortcomings and deficiencies in every area, therefore, we need Muslims to fill those posts. So, in essence, our approaches will be different. i.e, some Muslims will be into Dawah, some seeking Ilm, some Ibadah. Likewise, everyone has diverse abilities. Some make good scholars, some good teachers, Imams or advisors. Everyone is fulfilling a role and we must appreciate that.

So what is meant by Unity is when your brother is in need, you jump to help him regardless of what his ideology is as long as he is a Muslim. We need to fulfill the meaning of this hadith. You need to feel the pain and suffering of the brothers and sisters around the Muslim globe. You need to be concerned about what’s happening in Falisteen (Palestine), in Iraq and Kashmir. Eventhough, it isn’t your country and though these countries might be facing problems within themselves such as war, political disagreements etc. it shouldn’t matter, you should still be concerned for your brothers and sisters living in it. This is the concern we should have for our Muslim Ummah. The one who is not concerned about the Muslims doesn’t belong to them.

The Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu alyehi wasallam stated, “A man will be with the one whom he loves.” You will be with the people you love on the day of Judgement. If you have love of the Muslims, you will be with them on the day of Qiyamah and if you have love of the Kuffar (disbelievers), you will be with them. That is how it works. That is the justice of ALLAH. Those who love the Muslims will be with them and follow them wherever they go. This is why on the day of Judgement, RasoolALLAH Sallalahu alyehi wasallam states that ALLAH will tell the people – where are the gods you used to worship? So, whoever worshipped the cross will follow the cross. Whoever worshipped the idol will follow the idol. ALLAH (SWT) will be telling them that they did not worship Him so how can they be expected to receive the ajar (reward). He will tell them to go to their gods and tell them to reward on this day. Then ALLAH (SWT) will take all of those false gods and throw them into the fire of HELL and those people will have to take their lead and follow their fake gods intothe flames of Naar (Fire)

ALLAH is JUST. If you work and do things for his sake, you will be rewarded by him and if you do it for other false gods/people/things, you will enjoy the reward from them which is the fire of Jahnnam (Hell) and surely there is no God Beside ALLAH. La Illaha IllaALLAH Muhammad ur RasoolALLAH.

Taken from the Speech of Imam Anwar Awlaki
To Be Continued Insha’ALLAH,

InshaALLAH this message will continue on in the upcoming friday message. I pray this was a beneficial post and that it raised awareness amongst our Muslim community. Keep the Ahle Gaza (people of Gaza) in your sincere duas as well as the entire Ummah.

Walaykum as salam wa rehmatullahi warbarakatuh.

  • Message 003 – “The Muslim Ummah is ONE body (Part 02)”

Bismillah ar-Rahman ar-Raheem

Allahumma Salli ‘alaa Muhammadi-nin-Nabiyyi’l ummiyyi, Wa ‘alaa aalihi wa sahbihi wa sallim tasleema.

Assalam alaykum wa rehmatullahi Wa barakathuh,

I pray this message reaches you while you are all in the best of Imaan (belief) and Ihsaan (spiritual excellence), with a heart filled with sakeena (tranquillity) on this Blessed day of Juma’ah.

InshaALLAH, I will be continuing my message from the previous Juma’ah

3. Consequences of betrayal/forsaking a Muslim.

RasoolALLAH Sallalahu alyehi wasallam said, a Muslim is a brother of another Muslim. He does not oppress him or betrays him nor does he give him up.

RasoolALLAH sallalahu alyehi wasallam also said, and you do not belittle him.

Those four cows handed the white cow to the enemy. They thought they would be safe because this white cow was outspoken, causing trouble and accused of being a terrorist; so they said, “let it go, we don’t want anything to do with him, let him go to jail.” You do not hand over Muslims to the enemy of ALLAH (SWT). We fail to realize is that it will come to US next. You will be next in line.

Now, if you want to protect yourself, you need to stop such things from happening because as soon as you allow one Muslim to be taken, ALLAH does not help you anymore. You lose the assistance of ALLAH (SWT). Remember that if you relieve the pain and suffering of others in duniya (world), then ALLAH will alleviate your pain on the Day of Judgment. If you work to help Muslim brothers/sisters in need, ALLAH will help you when you are in need on the Day of Qiyamah, and indeed we are in need help on that day.

We cannot make it alone without the assistance and help of ALLAH nor can we go anywhere. If you want the assistance of ALLAH to be on your side, you need to jump to the assistance of your Muslim brethren. That is how you will protect yourself. Shaytaan will never be happy until he destroys the entire ummah. Nothing will satisfy him. He has been our enemy until the time of Aadam (A.S) and will continue on until the day of judgement. Don’t think you will quite him by feeding him on of your brothers. His hunger is never satisfied and thirst is never quenched. If we forsake who is in need today, be assured that ALLAH will forsake us tomorrow.

For you living in the west, your children are living in a non Muslim country and soon enough death will befall you and you will leave them behind and ALLAH knows what there fate will be. Possibly, they can grow up to fall prey to non-Muslim ideology and become non-Muslims. We ask ALLAH (SWT) that none of our children go astray. We need to invest in their future and ensure they will be carrying on the straight path. The way you do it is by standing side by side with your brother in need of help and ALLAH will care for you and be there for your children. Rasool ALLAH sallalahu alyehi wasallam said, “If you take care of the commands of ALLAH, ALLAH will take care of you, if you take care of the commands of ALLAH, you will find ALLAH with you.”

How does this happen? Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali gives explanation of this.

He says:

1. He (ALLAH) will take care of you by keeping you away from shubuhat (doubts) and shahawat (vain desires) in your emaan.

2. ALLAH will take care of you in old age. If you take care of the commands of ALLAH when you are young, he will take care of you when you are old.

3. ALLAH will take care of your children and he gives example of Surah al Kahf. The story of Musa (A.S) and Khidr. When Khidr rebuilt the wall that was about to fall down, Musa (A.S) asked him why he is rebuilding the wall because the people will not be paying them for it. Khidr said, “this wall belongs to two orphans and there is a treasure beneath it, I rebuilt it because if the wall falls down, the people will take the treasure from the orphans and if I rebuild it, the orphans will be able to retrieve their treasure when they are adults and grow old.” Then Khidr gave the reason why. He said, “ The reason why I rebuilt it was because their father was righteous.” The orphans are not yet at the age of puberty to be held accountable, so how can you know wether they are saliheen or not. The reason why ALLAH protected their treasure was because their father was righteous.

Their father passed away and therefore ALLAH is taking care of his children. ALLAH also sent Khidr to go all the way to the village to rebuild the wall for the orphans. Why? Because their father was righteous. Therefore, not only will ALLAH take care of your children while your alive but also when you pass away. Therefore, we need to take care of the commands of ALLAH. Don’t think by ducking down, you will be safe. No. You will be next.

Dear brothers and sisters, we talked about this issue in general. Now look specifically within your own cities. I am not talking about Iraq, Palestine, or somewhere far but rather look within your backyard. In our own city/country, many Muslims are arrested. We have a Guantanamo bay right where we are. *520 + Muslims have been arrested in the new laws and only 2 charged. There are 520+ Muslims locked in jail and they are there without charge and left there to rot for months in prison cells. What have you done for them? The brothers have nobody to help them and the Muslim community is doing nothing.

One brother stated the conditions of his family. His family had no one to look after them and lived in poverty. Another brother relates that he was beaten up when arrested. He did not resist and they continued beating him. After he was black eyed and bleeding in his ears and other places, the police put him in the posture of sujood (prostration) and asked, “Where is your God now? This response is not just an insult to the brother but to Islam and the Ummah also. We need to act now! ALLAH can revenge for himself. He does not need us but we cannot sit back and do nothing. We won’t be safe by being quiet. If we don’t stop it now, it can and will happen to us, our wives and daughters. Stop it in its tracks and do what you are capable of doing. It is your responsibility and you owe it to your ummah, to your brothers and to ALLAH!

Our religion is not just talking about theoretical material and ignoring what is happening to the ummah. This was the reason why Muslims in Spain lost Spain. A Classical Muslim Historian said while Muslim towns were falling down and were being invaded by crusaders one after another, the Masajids of Andalus were quiet and clueless, you would not hear anything about what was happening to the Muslims. Nobody would mention it in Khutbas or lessons. One would only find scholars speaking about theoretical material and leaving the state of the Ummah. The Ummah was being betrayed but nothing was being done.

Ibn Hazm al-‘Andalusi – the famous Scholar was so frustrated and fed up with the situation of the scholars/imams of Andalus that he said, “Do not be deceived by these fusaa (corrupt) who claim to be scholars while wearing the skins of sheep on hearts of wolves”. He also said, “What are they doing? They are doing nothing for the Ummah..the Ummah is falling..the land of Anadalus is being invaded and they are talking about other issues.”

Lastly, Dear Brothers and Sisters, We need to STAND UP, MOBILIZE, MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD and inshaALLAH this will be counted as Ibadah. Worshipping ALLAH by assisting your brothers and sisters and surely ALLAH will reward you for it in the Duniya and Aakhirah and indeed we truly need this Hasanah because the Ummah is going through Fittan. Each and everyone of us are going through Fittan. We ask ALLAH to protect us our family and our descendants. Ameen.

*The example is a reference to Muslims in the U.K and stats are from some years back; these numbers have increased since then.

  • Message 004 – Fearing Not the Blame of Any Blamers

Jihaad will not end until the Day of Judgment; Allaah (swt) and His Messenger (saws) have told us that. What is the proof for this?

1. Allaah (swt) says, “O you who believe! If any from among you turn back from his Faith, soon will Allaah produce a people whom He will love as they will love Him; humble before the believers, stern against the rejecters, fighting in the way of Allaah , and never fear the blame of the blamers. That is the grace of Allaah, which He will bestow on whom He wills. And Allaah encompasses all, and He knows all things.”

One thing mentioned in this ayah is a Sunnah Rabbaniyya; that is, a Sunnah of Allaah (swt) that is a constant. Here, the constant is in regards to replacement. Allaah (swt) will replace those who give up their responsibilities no matter who they are. Keep in mind that this ayah was addressed to the Sahaba (r); this goes to show that Allaah (swt) doesn’t have a special relationship with anyone. The Jews thought they were the “chosen ones” and then were cursed by Allaah (swt) for not committing to their responsibilities.

Many Islaamic Jama’at say that their Jama’ah lasted for 20–30 years therefore they are on the straight path. That is not the case at all. The moment you give up your responsibility, Allaah (swt) will replace you. The last deed that you do is the most important; if you die on that deed, whether good or bad, it will be vital to your status on the Day of Judgment. Dying in sin is a blameworthy deed in Islaam.

One question that many people have is that there are many Islaamic groups to join; which one should we join? If we look in the right place, we will not be confused and will find the answer. Rasoolullah (sallAllaahu ‘alayhe wassallam) has told us about ‘at-Taaifah al Mansoora’ (the victorious group). He didn’t just tell us that they are victorious but he also told us what the qualities of this victorious group are. Anyone who hears these qualities will not have to ask this question again. Let’s start by the qualities mentioned in the Qur’an. In this ayah (5:54), Allaah (swt) will replace you by those who:

a. ‘Allaah (swt) loves them’

b. ‘They love Allaah (swt)’

In regards to these first two qualities, we can never really know since this is invisible to us. However, if they are fulfilling the requirements and responsibilities, they are those whom Allaah (swt) loves and they love Him.

c. ‘They are humble towards the believers’

This means they are concerned about the believers, they love the believers; they care about what happens to the Muslims, they follow the news about what is happening to the believers around the world. They feel that a Muslim in the east is my brother, and the Muslimah in the west is my sister and if that Muslim in the east is killed, it is my responsibility to defend him and if my Muslim sister is hurt, it is my responsibility to defend her.

These brothers, when they hear about the bad that is happening to their brothers and sisters; they will answer the call and actually go. They are willing to lay down their lives to defend their believers. They are willing to spend their money to defend the believers. On the other hand we find that there are many Muslims who are critical of other Muslims. They are willing to give fatawa to the government to detain Muslims. You will find that they are willing to stand with the kuffar and spy on Muslims and fight them.

d. ‘They are stern towards the disbelievers’

They are harsh around the kuffar. They are the ones who are willing to stand up against the oppression of the kuffar. They are the ones, who are willing to ‘terrorize’ the kuffar as Allaah (swt) says,

“Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies”.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, you will find Muslims who are critical of other Muslims but are very humble and kind towards the kuffar. They justify this by saying it’s done for the purpose of da’wah; they want them to become Muslim. In reality, that is not the case. They are not telling them of what Islaam truly is. They are giving them a false impression of what Islaam is.

e. ‘They fight in the path of Allaah (swt)’

It is not that hard to find those who are fighting in the path of Allaah (swt).

f. ‘They don’t fear the blame of the blamers’

The munafiqeen are going to blame them. And obviously, the kuffar are going to speak about them negatively in the paper, television and radio. But do these brothers care about what is said about them? They could care less what the most famous news stations and newspapers say about them. As long as what they are doing pleases Allaah (swt), nothing bothers them.

Sa’ad bin Mua’dh (r) was the ally of Banu Qurayda in his years of jahilliya. When he became Muslim, he cut that relationship since Islaam demands loyalty to Allaah (swt), His Messenger (saws), and the mo’mineen. Later, when Banu Qurayda surrendered, they agreed to accept the ruling of Sa’ad bin Mua’dh (r) since he was their former ally in jahilliya. The tribe of Al Aws was telling Sa’ad to be kind in his judgment towards them. Sa’ad (r) said, “It’s about time for Sa’ad to not fear the blame of the blamers in the sake of Allaah (swt).” As soon as they heard that, they knew that their former allies are dead. Sa’ad (r) asked the Jews if they agree to his judgment; they said yes. Likewise he asked the Muslims if they accept his ruling and they replied in the affirmative. Sa’ad (r) said, “My ruling is that all of the men should be executed, and their women, children and property be appropriated by the Muslims.” The Prophet (saws) said, “Your ruling is the same ruling of Allaah from on top of seven heavens.”

That day, 900 Jews were killed. Why did this happen? They committed treason.

Now let’s look at the qualities of at-Taaifah al Mansoora from the ahadith:

a. They fight in the path of Allaah (swt)

b. They work collectively in a jama’ah.

c. Whoever disagrees with them or whoever betrays them – no matter what anybody says – be it Muslim or non-Muslim, nothing harms them. In fact, they seem to multiply. Rumsfeld had an internal diary where he said that the USA captured and killed many terrorists, but they seem to multiply. Well that’s because he is fighting at-Taaifah al Mansoora which Allaah (swt) promised to protect no matter how many he arrests; the Jihaad will carry on.

Going back to why the author mentions this ayah (al Ma’idah 54); he mentions that the ayah says “youjaahidoon” meaning “they are fighting” is present tense. In other words, every time you recite this ayah there is going to be somebody fighting Jihaad fe Sabeelillah; this is an indication that Jihaad will continue until the Day of Judgment.

Allaah (swt) says, “And fight them on until there is no more fitna, and there prevail justice and faith in Allaah (swt). But if they cease, Let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression.”

Fitna in this ayah means kufr. So the ayah is saying fight them until there is no more disbelief. And we know from the ahadith of the Prophet (saws) that disbelief will carry on until the Day of Judgment. Therefore Jihaad will also carry on until the Day of Judgment since we are told to wipe out kufr from the world.

On a side note, Jihaad will end when ‘Isa (Jesus) (as) rules the world. Why is that? Because ‘Isa (as) will fight kufr and there will be no more disbelief whatsoever. And after ‘Isa’s death, there will be no more Jihaad because Allaah (swt) will take away the souls of the believers and leave all the kuffar left on earth to go through the Last Hour. In addition, there is no Jihaad against Ya’juj and Ma’juj because there is no capability of fighting them; they will be destroyed by a miracle.
